Take it all in. This is the first look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Looper, an upcoming sci-fi thriller about a time traveling hitman who realizes that his latest target is his future self. Gordon-Levitt will be playing the younger version of Bruce Willis - hence the prosthetics on Levitt’s face to make him look a bit more like beefed up Willis. I’m not sure if it works. If the intention was to make me feel super uncomfortable then, yes, I guess it works. The film has been written and directed by Rian Johnson, best known for his work on Brick and The Brothers Bloom.

A Life Less Ordinary (1997)
Do you know what I really appreciate about Danny Boyle? I appreciate that I can watch a film like A Life Less Ordinary - his oddly charming 90s romcom about a down-on-his-luck aspiring romance novelist who kidnaps an ice queen heiress - and then watch, say, 28 Days Later and have no inkling of it being the same director. It’s his fearlessness and experimentation that makes this strange little film work so much for me. It has many of the tropes of the romantic comedy genre - boy and girl meet, don’t get along, fall in love after being stuck together over an extended period of time - but there’s something about the surreal, sort of cracky nature of the storytelling that makes it just out-there enough not to bore you with predictability.
